(IC) The Life of a Shinobi (Chapters 3-4: The Chunin Exams Tournament)

Post  The Administrator on Sat Aug 16, 2014 12:07 pm

PROLOGUE
It is the day of the Chunin Exams Final Round and crowds are gathering in the stadium to watch.  Many are citizens of the land of Fire, but some are from the Land of Lightning and Sand as well.  Konohamaru, the Hokage of the Leaf, is present.  Gaara, the Kazekage of the Sand, is also present.  Anon, the Raikage of the Cloud, is also present along with D, the eight tails Jinchuriki and Hiro, the two tails Jinchuriki.  The combatants (Zashimaru, Gorick, Nao, Lien, Ayano, Doske, Shikaru, Mugen, Hizana, and Kazuma) are gathered in a room together with Rento Aya, and their friends and teammates are in the stands.  Several Jonin are keeping an eye on the Cloud shinobi in case of anything funny going on. Who knows what the outcome will be.

Story

"Today," said Rento, "One of you will become a Chunin.  The whole leaf village, as well as representatives of the sand and cloud, are present.  When I call your name, you may enter the arena."  As he finished speaking, he walked into the stadium.

"Unlike the first round, all the weaker ninja have been weeded out," said Shikaru to Mugen, "Those remaining...are pretty intimidating to be honest."

"A room full of tough guys," Mugen comments, "just the way I like it." He looks around the rooms sizing up the competition taking close assessments of the Cloud shinobi, the Sand, Lien, and Kazuma. "I guess play isn't it," Mugen says after he finishes looking around.

"This is getting intense," Renji said. Him and squad 14 scanned the area of the final ninja. "Meh, just another bothersome obstacle," Kazuma replied in his usual blunt tone. Hizana piped in, asking "I wonder if we'll have to be a lot more serious this time?"

"Just think of it as another mission: give it your all, and do what it takes," Kazuma said. "Until this day is over, we are all enemies to each other; that includes you, me, mop-head over there (pointing at Mugen), and Zashimaru..." who they noticed was not with them anymore. Searching the area, they finally found him: flirting with Lien, much to her dismay. Oh, brother, they both thought at the same time.

"This whole thing's just a drag but at least I don't have to worry about fighting one of my teammates," said Shikaru to Mugen.

From watching the battles during the preliminary round and encountering a few of them during the Forest of Death, Lien was able to determine who the four strongest in the group were. "That Kazuma guy is no joke," she thought, "His skills can really be compared to that of a Chunin or even Jonin level shinobi. Then Ayano...well she's the daughter of the Kazekage. Then that cloud shinobi, Doske, seems extremely strong for a Genin. And then of course, Mugen is his usual self. The others won't be easy opponents either but Kazuma, Ayano, Doske, and Mugen will take all I've got to beat. It's time to show the results of my training!"

"ACHOO!" Kazuma rubbed his nose from sneezing. "Something wrong?" Hizana asked. "No," he replied. "although I hope I'm not catching a cold."

In the stands, Kitsune stood in a corner over looking the whole stadium. "All teams I have a visual on you maintain concealment and keep your eyes open," he says into his earpiece. "I hope nothing happens today," he thought to himself, "I'd like to see how much little Mugen has grown."

On the other side of the stadium Akira sat next to Kaori and the other leaf genin that didn't make it to the finals. While Kaito sat with Hinata and the other clan leaders on the opposite side of the stadium.

"Welcome everyone to the Chunin Exams Final Round," said Konohamaru to the audience, "I would also like to give a special welcome to our guests from the Sand and Cloud, especially the Kazekage and Raikage. Now then, these 10 Genin who will be fighting today have been through a lot, and today one of them will become a Chunin. Each of you were given a sheet when you came in. The combatants and the first half of fights are listed there. The second half, obviously, will be based on the victors of the listed fights. So first off we will have Kazuma Ryuuga of the Leaf vs Gorick of the Sand. Let the Chunin Exams Tournament begin!" The crowed cheered with excitement as the first two combatants entered the arena.

"Well, might as well get this over with," Kazuma said. He looked around the arena as he walked to the battleground and waited for his opponent.

Before Kazuma could leave Mugen called out to him, "Hey reject," he said loudly, "don't lose before I can stick my foot far up your behind got it?" The night before he was told by Akira that the kids games would have to stop if he wanted to be taken seriously. During this tournament he was going all out on anyone standing in his way, but at the same time, he was going to have as much fun as he could in each fight.

Raiku Zari and Ryan Kasai walked over to where Kaori and Akira were. "Akira," said Raiku, "I've noticed a fairly large amount of cloud citizens attending this year. Where as only about 20 sand citizens are in attendance, there are about 50 cloud citizens. I suggest we keep a very close eye on the Raikage. I'm feeling a great uneasiness."

Gorick entered the arena and looked at Kazuma. "Time to see what this guy is really capable of," he thought.

Kazuma stood there with his hands in his pockets, staring down his opponent. "Listen, personally I rather do this without confrontation. So, it would be best that you yield now I won't waste my time and energy."

Gorick made no verbal response, but Kazuma could tell by his facial expression that he certainly wasn't happy. "Such arrogance," thought Gorick, "These leaf shinobi are as bad as I thought."

Rento looked at Kazuma and Gorick, "If both combatants are ready...you may begin!"

Gorick quickly pulled out a small scroll and swung it open, immediately summoning a storm of kunai which flew towards Kazuma.

Instinctively, Kazuma strafed left, dodging left and threw several shuriken at Gorick. Aww geez, he complained, why must they always choose the hard way? Making one handsign, he focused on the shuriken and transformed them, making them five times bigger.

Mugen quietly laughed to himself and said, "that butthole use to always call me a show off. Just look at him out there, at let least when I fight I don't waste time trying to look cool."

Gorick made a quick side jump to avoid the kunai and then pulled out another summoning scroll.  "Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Jutsu!)"  Suddenly, an anthropomorphic lion appeared.  The lion was about 6.5 feet tall and was armed with a blade.  Once the smoke cleared, the lion looked at Kazuma.  "So this is our opponent?" asked Negasi (the lion).  "Yes," replied Gorick, "He's not weak like the last one."  "I see," replied Negasi, "Well then let's not waste any time.  Fūton: Shinkūgyoku (Wind Style: Vacuum Bullets!)"  Negasi takes a deep breath and then exhales several small blasts of wind chakra in such a manner that they are dispersed over an expansive range and are strong enough to pierce flesh like real bullets.

Kazuma, surprised by the sudden change in pace, narrowly managed to dodge the bullets, despite getting slightly nicked in the shoulder and cheek. "Looks like you aren't kidding around," he told Gorick while wiping his cheek. "I hate to get rough, but you left me no choice." Kazuma summons three clones, and all four of them quickly weaved hand-signs shouting "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!! (Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!!) Four giant balls of flames blazed towards Gorick and Negasi.

Familiar with the hand seals, Negasi jumped back behind Gorick. "Gorick!" he yelled. "I'm on it," replied Gorick.  Gorick pulled out another scroll and quickly performed the necessary hand signs.  "Fūka Hōin (Sealing Jutsu: Fire Seal!)"  From Kazuma's view, it appeared as if Gorick and Negasi were engulfed by the flames, however, the fireballs soon seemed to get sucked into the ground.  Once the fire was sealed into the scroll, Gorick and Negasi were seen standing firm.  "You're not going to finish us that easily," said Gorick, "As you can see from me summoning Negasi, I've been taking you seriously since we started, and I'd appreciate it if you'd take me seriously also." Having kept an eye on the original Kazuma, Negasi and Gorick rushed towards him; Negasi with his blade and Gorick with a kunai.

Finally! Things are getting interesting, Kazuma thought with a wild-looking smirk on his face. He focused his chakra in his hands and feet, then roared "RRRRAAAAGHH!! HERE I COME!" He charged them at break-neck speed, his clones behind him in formation. "NOW!!" With that signal, the lead clone and the others drew their swords and disappeared. Kazuma shadow-stepped past the giant anthropomorph; the clones appeared in front of it in formation (one on the left, one on the right, and one above) , saying in unison "Mikazuki no Mai (Leaf Style: Crescent Moon Dance!!)" They swung their swords at the opponent's upper body creates an orbital pattern, the elegance of which is reminiscent to the shape of a crescent moon;the mighty sword strikes are so severe that receiving a blow from just even one among the three will inevitably result in a fatal wound. Meanwhile the real Kazuma (in no time flat) was in close range of Gorick. Amping up the chakra in his fist, he executed an inhumanely powerful uppercut into his jaw, both of them rising into the air. "RISING DRAGON!!"

As the clones closed in on Negasi he pulled another sword out, seemingly out of nowhere, and blocked the first two clones attacks. As he clashed with the first two clones, the other clone approached from above. Negasi made no effort to stop the oncoming clone, but once the clone's sword was only centimeters away from Negasi's head, Negasi disappeared in a poof of smoke.

As Kazuma punched Gorick, Gorick flew into the air and his body came crashing down onto the ground. However, the body slowly began to turn into sand. With the real Gorick nowhere in sight, everyone in the audience looked around in confusion. Suddenly, there was a poof in between the clones. Out of the smoke came Gorick. With two kunai in hand, Gorick stabbed two of the clones and kicked the third.

"Uhhh...what just happened there?" asked Ryan. "Well the Gorick that was punched was clearly a sand clone," said Raiku, "It appears as if the second sword that Negasi seemingly pulled out of nowhere was actually a transformed Gorick. Then, once Negasi's summon was canceled, the sword remained and Gorick caught the clones off guard."

"what?!? No way!!" exclaimed Kazuma. This was frustrating him a great deal; he began to get more angry as the battle goes on. DAMMIT!!! The more this continues, the more I wanna shove his corpse into the ground!!!

AMAZING! Sanmaru thought, who was standing guard for the Hokage. The Crescent Moon Dance is an A-rank justu; something a GENIN shouldn't even be capable of! How and where did Kazuma learn that?? "Hey! HEY!! Look!" shouted Renji, who was simultaneously pointing at the fight and tugging at Hiznana. "Look at Kazuma's eyes!" Hizana looked, not really understanding his anxious behavior... then she saw them. Saw his red eyes. "Th-they're... darker..."

Kazuma stood there, staring down Gorick. Then gave a calm smile that felt crafty...insidious...dark.. "You know," he began, "I have to admit, you're one of the few that can still stand from those attacks." He paused for a moment, then continued. " I was throwing some of my best there, but even then I was holding back... till now..." With that he drew his sword & went into a stance. "Too bad," he said, "I was going to use this on someone else. But you'll have to do for now." I hope you're watching... Mugen Kakasu-Ken

"Not sure what you're planning Kazuma," thought Gorick, "But I'm not too eager to find out."  Gorick pulled his largest scroll off his back and unrolled it.  "Summoning Jutsu!"  A large puff of smoke was seen and as the smoke cleared, a giant scorpion was revealed.  The creature was about the size of a Stegosaurus, and Gorick was riding on top of it.  "Let's end this Kyogus!" yelled Gorick.  The scorpion roared and stampeded towards Kazuma.

"What is he doing?!? He's gonna be bug food if doesn't move!" Renji said. Kazuma concentrated, put all of his focus into his actions; he breathing became dead calm, time began to slow down around him. Just like Master Mifune taught me, he thought to himself as drew a small circle with the tip of his sword.
